Golden Globes Announce New Award For Career Achievement In TV

We live in a golden age of television — or gilded as FX boss John Landgraf recently remarked — with the volume of production exploding and quality scaling new heights. With television now rivaling film in level of on- and off-screen talent and critical acclaim, the medium and its creators are getting acknowledged by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with a special honorary award.

At the top of the nominations announcement for the 76th Golden Globe Awards Thursday morning, HFPA President Meher Tatna unveiled that starting with the upcoming 2019 ceremony, there will be a honorary Golden Globe Award given out for career achievements in television. It will be the TV equivalent of the Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award.
