There's a new name in the local movie theater industry as AMC is set to open it's doors to its first-ever Wichita location on Friday.
Wichita residents love their movies and are no strangers to upscale theaters, so it comes as no surprise that they're excited to try out something new.
"I am excited," Isabella Bond said. "I remember growing up around Northrock. I'm excited to see what they do with it."
"My brother's taken me to AMC a couple times in Overland Park, so I'm pretty excited," Danh Luu said.
The AMC Northrock 14 theater is at 3151 North Penstemon, near 32nd and Rock. It features top-of-the-line amenities like Dolby Cinema and MacGuffins Bar. Each room features plush recliners and reserved seating.
AMC spokesperson Ryan Noonan says the company is excited to open a new theater in their home state.
"We are based in Kansas. Our corporate headquarters are in the state of Kansas, so this was an opportunity to expand not just to a new market but to a market that's close to us," Noonan said.
The theater features 14 auditoriums ranging from small 33-person rooms to large 171-person rooms.
Ticket prices will be less than $5 for matinee shows and under $10 for evening shows. And for an extra $5, you can experience AMC's Dolby Cinema, which features state-of-the-art laser projection and speakers under every seat.
Noonan says they went all-out at this location, and he is excited for people to try Wichita's newest luxe theater.
"To be able to come here, to be able to bring not just AMC but the very best of AMC... We think people are going to come out and be very excited. We can't wait to get open."
